Haiti - Education : Martelly encourages youth to learn at least one trade

Michel Martelly, the President of the Republic, visited on Wednesday, the pilot Center of vocational training (CPFP), in Drouillard, where he participated in the official launch of the Program of Program Vocational Training and socialization, supported by the Mission United Nations stabilization Mission in Haiti (Minustah) and in the inauguration of new buildings constructed and equipped by UNESCO.

The ceremony took place in presence of the Secretary of State for Vocational Training, Ms. Marina Gourgue, the Director General of CONATEL, Mr. Jean-Marie Guillaume, of Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Haiti, Mr. Mariano Fernández Amunategui and the UNESCO Representative in Port-au-Prince, Mr. Béchir Lamine.

The Head of State welcomed the launch of this program and took the opportunity to express his appreciation to the various partners involved. He also welcomed the support of the Directorate General of the National Council of Telecommunications (CONATEL) in the establishment of technological tools made available to students of CPFP.

The President Martelly committed to supervise these young people so that they can contribute effectively in the economic development of the country. Like other Haitian professionals, they should be recruited, among others, in the construction of the Industrial Park of Caracol and in the reconstruction of the country in general.

Aware of the obstacles impeding a better functioning of CPFP, the President of the Republic requested a list of requirements to the Director Jean-Marie Béjoly Monrose so that the State can take steps to strengthen this public institution with a social vocation, which contributes to the training of our youth since 1977.

The Head of State, speaking to hundreds of citizens, happy to see him to the CPFP, encourages the Haitian youth to learn at least one trade. He has also given assurances about his commitment to fulfill its campaign promises and renewed his determination to take concrete action that will improve the lives of the Haitian people.
