Haiti - Politic : 37.1 million euros for the fight against food and nutritional insecurity (Video)

Under the auspices of the Office of the National Authorizing Officer, the 2nd phase of the Multisectoral Food and Nutritional Relief Program (PMSAN), funded by the European Union and co-financed by the French Development Agency to the tune of €37.1 million, was launched at the Hôtel Roi Christophe in Cap Haitien.

The Ministries of Agriculture, Public Health, Social Affairs and the Ministry of Planning are jointly piloting the fight against food and nutritional insecurity in specific areas of the Lower North-West, Upper Artibonite, North-East and West using a multisectoral governance approach.

Food and Nutritional Security (FNS) Governance has proven to be the fundamental lever for operations aimed at restoring decent living conditions for the most vulnerable. By engaging several operators made up of international and local NGO consortia coordinated by Expertise France, the State has set itself the objective of supporting the implementation of the PMSAN document, using the program as a platform for multi-sectoral interactions, both institutional and operational, to support production.

Taking into account the lessons learned from the first phase launched in 2018, this PMSAN aims, despite the difficult context, to develop complementarity and increased synergy between state actors and technical and financial partners so that the multi-sectoral approach to SAN becomes institutionalized.

To support this process, human and financial resources are mobilized through a program estimate and technical assistance dedicated to the entire program.

This launch paves the way for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular the 2nd "Zero Hunger" and the 8th "Decent Work and Economic Growth".
