Haiti - Mexico : Meeting on Haitian migration to Mexico

Kathia Verdiern, Minister of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE) had the opportunity to meet Mr. Jesús Cisneros, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Mexico in Haiti, to discuss the situation of our compatriots living in Mexico and in transit to other destinations.

Together they addressed several key points :

- Protection of the rights of our compatriots and the fight against arbitrary expulsions;

- Strengthening collaboration between MHAVE and Mexican authorities to ensure better assistance to our brothers and sisters in difficulty;

- Facilitating access to regularization, employment and training opportunities, to promote their integration in Mexico;

- Establishment of a joint monitoring mechanism to support our compatriots and better meet their needs;

- Preparation of an official visit of the MHAVE to Mexico, in order to assess on the ground the living conditions of our compatriots and strengthen actions in their favor.

In accordance with the vision of Leslie Voltaire, President pro tempore of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) and Alix D. Fils-Aimé, Prime Minister, this meeting marks a significant step forward in our commitment to a more humane and concerted management of Haitian migration.

"I reiterate my commitment to defend the rights and interests of our compatriots, wherever they are. We will continue to work with our international partners to ensure better protection and a more dignified future for Haitians living abroad," declared the Minister.
