Haiti - Tourism : Towards the strengthening of PoliTOUR 31/01/2025 09:31:03
On Thursday, January 30, 2025, John Herrick Dessource, Minister of Tourism, launched the renovation work on the Tourist Police (PoliTOUR) office at Champ-de-Mars. This initiative is part of a dynamic to strengthen the security of tourists, sites and tourist infrastructure, co-directed by Mr. Alix Didier Fils Aimé. In his speech, Minister Dessources recalled the importance of security in the revival of tourism, an essential element in Haiti's economic development. He underlined the commitment of the Ministry of Tourism to tackle security challenges by providing the PolitOUR with modern and efficient means to effectively carry out its mission. An approach that aims to : - Strengthen the security coverage of tourist areas; - Raise the level of competence of agents through appropriate training; - Modernize equipment for optimal surveillance; - Consolidate collaboration with institutions in charge of security and tourism stakeholders. Let's recall that the Politour (12 years of existence) https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-40630-icihaiti-politour-the-tourist-police-celebrates-its-10th-anniversary.html , a specialized unit of the Haitian National Police (PNH), plays a key role in the protection of tourist sites, strategic infrastructures and visitors, both national and foreign. Its increase in capacity is a priority to guarantee a serene and attractive tourist experience.
