Haiti - Reconstruction : «The money was not invested properly» dixit Martelly

The financial aid granted to Haiti after January 12, 2010 have not been invested "properly" because they focused on the victim instead of immediately bet on the reconstruction and development, declared the President Martelly toan AFP journalist. "The money was not invested properly, instead of bringing water and food to people, we could have begun the reconstruction, providing jobs and that the same people would have been able to buy food and water," said President Martelly during the interview in Caracas, Venezuela.

"What was done to save lives was justified, but from a practical point of view this money could have been used in other ways to contribute to sustainable development" of Haiti, ensuring that it is not" time to blame anyone," but to look ahead.

"The money was given to organizations that have done things unbeknownst to the government [...] some have taken advantage of our weakness and we must change this [...] We have a plan, we know the priorities [...] n the near future, we plan to use it to help develop Haiti," asserts Martelly.

"We decided to change the way we do the things in Haiti, we not want any more 'gifts', we want to promote Haiti [...] also speak of our wealth, that has not been exploited. We want to show this weakness, poverty and misery, as an opportunity," added the Head of State during the interview.
