Haiti - Social : The transport sector in solidarity with the Teachers' Unions

The Haitian Land Transport Sector (STIH), through its unions and federations, expresses its full solidarity with the platforms and teachers' unions that are planning a general strike starting January 13, 2025 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44027-haiti-news-zapping.html to demand better working conditions, the payment of salary arrears, obtaining a debit card and respect for their fundamental rights.

As owners and drivers in the land transport sector, (the Association of Owners and Drivers of Haiti - APCH) we understand the importance of a collective commitment to make our voices heard. We know that the progress of our country is based on unity and solidarity between the different professional sectors. This is why we fully support the actions undertaken by the teachers' unions and call on the authorities to open a frank and constructive dialogue to respond quickly to their demands.

We recall that education and transport are two essential pillars for the development of the Nation. It is therefore urgent to provide these sectors with the resources and support necessary to enable them to fully play their role in society.

Solidarity and united, we remain alongside Haitian teachers in this crucial period : APCH : Cayes, Jacmel, Miragoane, Petit-Goâve, Léogâne, APN, Pétion-ville, Thomassin, Mirebalais, the Union of Drivers and Owners of Vehicles of Bas Artibonite (SCPVBA), the National Federation of Haitian Transport and Workers (FENATRATH), the Association of Transporters and Workers of Malpasse (AT2M), the Union of the Belladere National Road SYN-TRANS-BEL and the Union of Truckers of Thomassique (SYCAT)
