Haiti - Security : Haiti at the 16th Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas

On Monday, October 14, 2024, Jean Marc Berthier Antoine, Minister of Defense, represented Haiti at the opening of the 16th Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas (CMDA) held in Argentina.

This major event brings together representatives from across the continent to discuss common security and defense challenges. It was also an opportunity for the Minister to recall the urgency of the issues facing Haiti.

In his speech, Minister Antoine reiterated the determination of the Haitian Government to restore state authority and reestablish order and security throughout the national territory. He also highlighted his administration's efforts to make the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H) a modern institution that respects human rights.

During the opening session, an important place was given to the issue of women's participation in defense issues. Antoine highlighted the progress made within the FAd'H to integrate more women into its ranks.

Other important topics were discussed. Artificial intelligence was mentioned for its potential to revolutionize the way information is collected and processed. Similarly, cybersecurity and cyberdefense have become priorities for the region.
