Haiti - Health : Visit of the Minister of Health to the Croix-des-Bouquets
This week the Minister of Public Health and Population (MSPP), Florence Duperval Guillaume went to the Croix-des-Bouquets, to visit the health center of this town it was accompanied by Mr. Carl Murat Cantave, Secretaries of State for Population, the Minister has also took advantage of this visit to meet with the victims of the fire at the town market.
"...a part of the market was burned down, because I was not there, I was traveling with the President [to Cuba] I think it's a gesture of solidarity as a woman, I had to come and see the traders to listen them, to tell them that I share their pain, and also to inform them that the MSPP in the mandate it has, it gives psychological support... [...] and that we also work with other government ministers who have the mandate to improve their situation, with the Presidency, with the First Lady ho is a woman like me, to achieve do something together to alleviate the suffering of these people..."
The Minister Guillaume also visited the health center and the hospital who is being built to see the level of progress of the work "I say that it's a health facility that is clean, and I congratulated the Director Dr. Michaud [...] the second comment that I've done is that the center is frequented, when you see an institution frequented that means that the population is more or less satisfied with the services that are given, it is a sign that people are satisfied otherwise the population would go elsewhere.
The third comment that I made is that the center has a maternity, we do not need to have a big clinic to have a maternity [...] one thing that I do not like is that I have found children aged 15 who are pregnant [...] s not normal, therefore the recommendation that I made to the Director after congratulating her, it's that family planning is an important thing, we should not wait until the person has 20 years, 25 years to give this education.
Since a child is in school we should arrange to teach him the family planning [...] this child has 15 years, it's child who has left school therefore ourselves in public health is the kind of thing that we would like to avoid, the place of children is in school, they are not there to make babies..."
