Haiti - Agriculture : Irrigation project of the German Agro Action Organization

Vernet Joseph Minister of Agriculture and Moïse Jean-Pierre Fils Minister of the Environment, held a technical meeting with representatives of the Haiti office of the German Organization Agro Action.

The points discussed allowed to discuss the possibility of installing 4 solar pumps in the coming weeks, to facilitate the irrigation of more than 250 hectares in Anse-Rouge in the upper Artibonite and Baie de Henne in the lower North-West.

Also Agro Action will help to irrigate a few hundred hectares of the 10,000 ha of the vast plain of Maribahoux as part of a future project with funding from the European Union.

As a preliminary measure, Minister Moïse requires that an Environmental and Social Impact Study be carried out.

Through these two projects, the two Ministries demonstrate that inter-institutional cooperation is necessary to achieve sustainable agriculture.
