Haiti - Diplomacy : Visit of Ambassadors of Argentina and of UNASUR to the Chancellery

Laurent Lamothe, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs, received, this Wednesday, November 23 to the Chancellery the visit of the Ambassador of Argentina, Mr. Marcelo Raul Sebaste and the Ambassdor Rodolfo Matarollo Rodolfo Matarollo of Union of South American Nations (UNASUR).

This visit is part of the South-South cooperation and, particularly in the context of the cooperation of Haiti with Argentina, relative to the program Pro Huerta of food safety covering more than 150,000 people. It is planned an expansion of this program with an additional participation of 100,000 others.

The Ambassador of UNASUR announced, for his part, the inauguration soon of 850 houses to Canaan in the town of Croix-des-Bouquets and his intention to explore new areas of cooperation between Haiti and the hemispheric organization. The Ambassador Rodolfo Matarollo provides, through this cooperation, not only a promising future for South America, but also a commitment that must be continued because of its historical and moral character. He concluded by ecalling that it is a duty for South America to fulfill its historic debt to Haiti.

The Minister Lamothe, for his part, thanked the ambassadors by promising to continue to strengthe the relations with Argentina and UNASUR while renewing the will and the deep interest of the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly, to achieve a sustainable economic development for the benefit of Haiti.
