Haiti - Interference : CONATEL closes 5 illegal radio stations and demands corrections from 23 legal stations

The General Directorate of the Executive Body of the National Telecommunications Council (CONATEL) informs that, following a new complaint from the National Office of Civil Aviation (OFNAC) concerning radio interference on aeronautical links, in the Departments of the Center and the North (Mirebalais, Hinche, Cap-Haïtien), a technical team was dispatched during the period from August 25 to September 1st, 2024 to resolve this problem.

CONATEL proceeded to the closure of 5 stations and the seizure of their equipment, in accordance with Article 137 of the Decree of October 12, 1975 illegal FM stations causing interference on the control tower of the Cap-Haïtien airport. 23 other legal stations, were ordered to make technical corrections to their transmission parameters to improve the quality of their signal.

- Radio Emergency FM (103.1 MHz), Mirebalais

- Radio Soleil Levé (89.9 MHz), Hinche

- Radio Quotidien (95.5 MHz), Hinche

North Department : Illegal stations closed

- Radio Multivers (99.9 MHz), Cap-Haïtien

- Radio Voix de l'île (94.5 MHz), Cap-Haïtien

Legal stations called upon to correct their transmission parameters :

Center :

- Radio Ginen (92.7 MHz), Mirebalais

- Radio Victoire (94.7 MHz), Mirebalais

- Radio Panic (97.5 MHz), Mirebalais

Following the intervention of CONATEL, the control tower of the international airport of Cap-Haïtien confirms that they are no longer affected by harmful interference.
