Haiti - Insecurity : The Minister of Public Security, orally, notes and indignated 12/08/2024 09:35:30
Carlos Hercules, the Minister of Justice and Public Security, notes a resurgence of violence by armed gangs in several parts of the country that have cost the lives of members of the population, particularly in Cabaret and Arcahaie. "The criminal acts of recent days have also caused the displacement of many families, worsening the humanitarian crisis in the country, which is one of the Government's priorities alongside the security issue." The Minister is "indignated" by the burning of the Ganthier customs office, of a PNH armored vehicle that had broken down https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-42921-haiti-news-zapping.html as well as the attack on the Montfort Institute in Croix-des-Bouquets, a specialized educational establishment for deaf children, which was vandalized and looted. The police have received formal instructions to take all necessary measures to put an end to this situation of terror that has lasted too long and to guarantee public peace that will allow the population to move around freely in complete peace, and to return to normal life. The Ministry of Justice and Public Security invites the population to support the Haitian National Police (PNH) in its efforts to counter the actions of criminal groups. The Ministry recalls that within the framework of the state of security emergency decreed by the Government, the members of the Anti-Gang Cells, in particular the Government Commissioners and Substitutes, are instructed to put public action in motion against all the bandits who terrorize the population as well as against their sponsors and/or accomplices.
