Haiti - FLASH : Automatic weapons fire, PM evacuated after visit to HUEH (Video)

On Monday, July 29, 2024, as Prime Minister Garry Conille was leaving the State University Hospital of Haiti (HUEH) in downtown Port-au-Prince, after an assessment visit, accompanied by a CNN journalist, by Rameau Normil, Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Commander of the Multinational Security Support Mission Godfrey Otunge, bursts of automatic weapons, sometimes intense, rang out in the area of the Hospital, causing panic and the emergency evacuation of the Head of Government to a safe place, escorted by Haitian and Kenyan police officers.

The Head of Government and those accompanying him are all safe and sound.

The Haitian and Kenyan police officers quickly took cover and responded according to a video. Several armored vehicles were visible in the vicinity of the hospital. Let's recall that HUEH is located in an area controlled by gangs, in the center of the capital.
