A UDMO agent killed with a machete

Wednesday July 17, Faugue Josnick, Agent of the Departmental Law Enforcement Unit (UDMO) was killed with a machete in Saut-d'Eau. The identity of the perpetrator and the motives for this crime are still unknown.

3 bandits killed, around ten injured and several arrested

Three alleged bandits were killed, around ten injured and several others arrested during an operation carried out by the police, on July 17, 2024, in three localities in the communes of Anse-d'Ainault, Chambellan and Moron, in the department of Grand'Anse. An M4 assault rifle was confiscated by law enforcement.

Judge Saint-Villier re-elected as head of the CSPJ

Judge Wando Saint-Villier was re-elected to represent the courts of first instance on the Superior Council of the Judicial Power (CSPJ). He obtained 97% of the votes cast in his favor in the country's 18 jurisdictions in total.

Modernization of justice

On Wednesday July 17, Presidential Advisor Emmanuel Vertilaire, in charge of the "Justice, Security and Rule of Law" project, spoke with Xavier Michon, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The discussions focused on the modernization of the justice sector through digitalization and the complete digitalization of the system, as well as on the sustainability of this approach.
