Haiti - Health : Important visit of an international delegation to the University Hospital of Peace

Friday July 12, 2024, the Peace University Hospital (HUP) in Delmas 33, received the visit of a large international delegation including the Director of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the Director of Civil Protection and of European Union Humanitarian Aid (ECHO), the Emergency Director of UNICEF, as well as the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO-Haiti).

Under the leadership of the Pan American Health Organization PAHO/WHO, partner of the HUP, this visit aimed to evaluate the functioning of the only public university hospital structure in the Metropolitan Area of ​​Port-au-Prince which continues to ensure holistic patient care despite safety and resource challenges.

During this visit, Dr. Fontilus, Executive Director of the HUP, requested continued support from partners, particularly in the supply of medicines and medical equipment as well as training and technical support.

PAHO/WHO reiterated its commitment to supporting the HUP in its efforts to overcome challenges and improve health care for the population.
