Haiti - Politic : Opening of Youth Month

Friday July 12, 2024, Niola Lynn Sarah Devalis Octavius, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, displayed her faith in young people trained, committed and aware of violence and involved in building a climate of Peace and security throughout the territory before launching the Youth Social Support Program for Peace and Security (PASOJEPS) and declaring open the Youth Month which will end on August 12, 2024 World Youth Day

Convinced of the scope of PASOJEP, following interventions on its objectives and content, the young people welcomed it with great enthusiasm. More than a hundred young representatives, from several neighborhoods including Bel-Air, Cité Militaire, Gressier, Léogâne Thomassin, Cité Soleil, Pernier, Pétion-ville and Delmas among others, signed the declaration of commitment, promising, in within the framework of PASOJEPS, to join in the activities, projects and programs of the Ministry relating to Peace and security in their communities.

In her speech for the occasion, Octavius ​​praised the commitment of young people to peace and security. According to her, "Social peace cannot be achieved without this renewed commitment to the active and constructive participation of youth in the mission entrusted to the Transitional Government."

The Minister called for the collaboration of actors, partners and government officials with a view to providing the country with agents of change, peace and development essential to the construction of a stable, democratic and united society.

For Octavius, the activities of Youth Month, Festi Été 2024, important stages of PASOJEPS will on the one hand create an environment conducive to mutual aid, solidarity and on the other hand transform the aspirations of our youth into concrete actions for a future where security and stability reign.
