Haiti - Security : Meeting with Dominican military

A delegation, headed by Georges Racine, State Secretary of the Interior, was sent to the military post of Jimani by the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and National Defense (MICTDN), Me Thierry Mayard-Paul, to meet a military delegation from the capital of the neighboring republic, in a goodwill gesture to show the interest of the Haitian government in the case of the alleged disappearance, on the Haitian side of the lake Azuei, of two Dominicans farmers who had not returned to their respective homes since before yesterday evening.

Preliminary research conducted by the Army of the Republic Dominifcaine revealed traces of blood leading to the lake and other evidence such as sheets of prayer usually held and transported by them. Consequently, only speculation would make believe that of Haitians would be concerned by the alleged reprisals against them.

The presence of the Haitian delegation was welcomed by local residents who were reassured by the fact that if the Haitian nationals were involved in this case, they would be punishable by law.

The MICTDN work to the realization of the vision of the President of the Republic to create sustainable development initiatives by providing support to the people and the civic assistance to which it has legitimately entitled.
