Thursday July 4th, 2024, after receiving the day before the United States Ambassador to Haiti, Dennis B. Hankins on bilateral defense cooperation where the training of Haitian soldiers was discussed, the first time since demobilization of the FAd'H in 1994 that the United States raised the possibility of cooperation with the Haitian army; Jean Marc Berthier Antoine, the Minister of Defense, met with Wen-Jiann Ku, Ambassador of Taiwan (Republic of China)

The discussions focused on several crucial subjects, including the training of the Haitian military and the strengthening of Haitian-Taiwanese cooperation in the areas of defense.

Ambassador Wen-Jiann Ku congratulated the Ministry of Defense, in particular the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H), for having recently demonstrated their ability to contribute to the restoration of Peace and security in Haiti. He highlighted the remarkable efforts made by the Haitian military on the ground, illustrating their commitment and determination.

The two men agreed to explore new opportunities to deepen this cooperation. In addition, the Ambassador promised to support the Ministry in matters of military personal protective equipment.

Minister Antoine renewed the Government's commitment to working closely with Taiwan to strengthen the capacities of the FAd'H with a view to guaranteeing enhanced security for Haiti "The discussions focused on military training and defense cooperation. I reiterated the commitment of the Government of Haiti to strengthening the capacities of the FAd'H and to deepening ties with Taiwan."

"Taiwan has been the first partner of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H) since their remobilization in 2017. We reaffirm our commitment to continuing and strengthening our cooperation in order to restore order in society and establish the foundations for development national," declared the Ambassador.
