Haiti - Security : Reinforced military and surveillance at the Dominican border

Despite the arrival of Kenyan troops in Haiti to support the Haitian National Police (PNH), in their fight against the armed gangs that control part of Haiti, the Armed Forces of the Dominican Republic remained on alert at the border to deal with any eventuality that could pose a threat to Dominican territory.

Planes from the Dominican Air Force flew yesterday over the border area passing through Dajabón, while soldiers from the Dominican Army and the Specialized Land Border Security Corps (CESfront) maintain reinforcements and increase terrestrial patrols.

Likewise, video surveillance systems have been supplemented by security cameras and the acquisition of drones equipped with thermal vision, which gives the Dominican army a "powerful resource"n all terrain situations or weather conditions. These images are monitored in real time in the "C2" command and control center (intelligence service); which, combined with the strengthening of radio communications and internet and satellite transmissions, helps them have a "greater capacity" to combat all threats to national security. that allows it to track vehicles and people

Furthermore, the Army Command stressed that it has increased the accommodation capacity in the various border bases, which has made it possible to increase the number of soldiers in the units along the border.

Another element that was reinforced was the deployment of ground vehicles (buggy and armored vehicles) and air units (planes and helicopters), thus increasing logistics and the level of surveillance.
