Saturday May 18, 2024, at the Villa d'Accueil (Musseau), as part of the commemoration of the 221st anniversary of the National Flag in Arcahaie on May 18, 1803, Edgard Leblanc, President of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) in presence members of the CPT, interim Prime Minister Michel Patrick Boisvert, resigning Ministers, members, of Frantz Elbé Director General of the National Police of Haiti accompanied by members of the High Command, the Diplomatic and Consular Corps, representatives of international institutions and numerous invited personalities, delivered a speech in which he declared

"[...] this May 18, 2024 finds us still in a worse situation than in previous years as if these words, these gestures, these demonstrations hid a gaping void. The emptiness of resignation, the emptiness of detachment from the motherland, the emptiness of distrust between us, the emptiness of disenchantment with our land, the emptiness of frenzied individualism, the emptiness of contempt for our country, the empty of contempt for ourselves. It must be said. We must admit that in order to change things, the union that we advocate remains in the speeches of the occasion. We need a new start. A new start so that the union around the flag becomes a reality every day, every hour, every minute, every second.

Our flag must become the rallying sign around a great konbit to bring back to life our social body which has been suffering for years from atrocious convulsions [...]"

In his speech, Prime Minister a.i. Michel Patrick Boisvert recalled the importance of this celebration, "an opportunity for Haitians to unite towards a common cause. That which tends towards the good of the country and its population." he urged everyone to move beyond recriminations and focus their efforts on concrete actions to reorient the country towards objectives of real change. He also called for international solidarity, through robust support, to support our country in its recovery efforts.
