Haiti - FLASH : More than 80 candidates for the position of PM

At 24 hours before the deadline, more than 80 personalities had applied for the post of Prime Minister to lead the transition, a number well above the 15 initially planned, which demonstrates the division that exists in the political sectors incapable of clearing a consensus and to overcome clan spirit.

Among the best-known figures are Anacacis Jean Hector, Garry Conille, Michel Brunache, Gérald Germain, Lucmane Délile, Inel Torchon and Fritz Belizaire, most of them former Prime Ministers, ministers or general directors.

"Pitit Desalin" endorses the candidacy of Fritz Bélizaire for the post of Prime Minister. The American Chamber of Commerce in Haiti (AmCham) supports the candidacy of Alix Didier Fils-Aimé... while the EDE Group - Historical Compromis, does not wish to propose a candidate for the position of Prime Minister. Smith Augustin, his Representative on the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) will vote in favor of the candidate most capable of responding to the challenges of the day.

The deadline for submitting candidacy files for the position of Prime Minister of the Transition ends this Friday, May 17, 2024...
