Haiti - FLASH : Biden releases 60 million USD for the mission led by Kenya

Following the publication of the decree in Haiti, creating The Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-42104-haiti-flash-the-modified-decree-creating-the-presidential-council-published-official.html President Biden has ordered the release of $60 million, most of which will be used to equip and train a multinational police force to be led by Kenya to assist the police Haitian to fight armed gangs.

Let's remember that the Republican leaders of the House and Senate refused to approve $40 million out of the $200 million promised by the State Department https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-41867-haiti-politic-antony-blinken-announces-an-additional-$100m-for-the-pnh-support-mission.html . Which is added to the 100 million USD from the Pentagon in kind (intelligence services, air transport, communications and medical support among others...)

The equipment, which can come from the stockpiles of any U.S. government agency, and training from the Department of Defense, will help get the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS) off the ground, temporarily suspended since the announcement of the resignation of Prime Minister a.i. Henry, under pressure from Washington.

Should be noted that in March, Biden also authorized $10 million in aid including weapons and ammunition to help the Haitian National Police (PNH) in their fight against armed gangs https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-41987-haiti-flash-the-usa-will-provide-weapons-and-ammunition-to-the-pnh.html . Under this authorization, the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd’H) will receive bulletproof vests from the Biden administration for the first time.
