Market attacked, several victims
Thursday April 11, 2024 heavily armed individuals attacked the public market of Cabaret Archaie, (West Department). The toll would be around ten dead (unofficial toll).

CPT late for bargaining ?
Former Deputy Abel Descollines, spokesperson for the consultation group for a historic compromise, signatory of the Agreement of December 21, says he is scandalized by the attitude of the outgoing Government which is unjustifiably blocking the installation of the Presidential Council of Transition (CPT). According to Descollines, the Council of Ministers would have required positions to validate and publish the documents relating to the establishment of the CPT.

Police officers : Training in hostile environment intervention
The police services of the French Embassy in Haiti conduct training activities for the benefit of specialized units of the Haitian National Police - PNH. These training courses aim to optimize intervention techniques in hostile environments.

Business exploration with Colombia
The Consul General of Colombia in Haiti, Vilma Velàsquez, met around ten Haitian entrepreneurs eager to explore the Colombian market. From April 22 to 26, around fifteen Haitian entrepreneurs will travel to Colombia to participate in the 100th edition of "Macro Ruedas-Pro 2024" to get to know the Colombian market and establish commercial relationships with participating Colombian entrepreneurs.

More than 6 million USD for the Mission
Brian Nichols, Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs, said : "We thank the United Kingdom for its contribution of £5 million (± US$6.3 million) to the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS) in Haiti. The rapid deployment of this mission to help the Haitian National Police restore security is essential. We urge other international partners to join us in increasing their support."

Contraction of 1.8% of GDP in 2024

The World Bank in the document "World Economic Outlook" published in March of this year, predicts that the economy of Haiti, because of the crisis, will contract by -1.8% in 2024, but with the possibility of a recovery of +1.9% in 2025. Apart from Haiti, no Latin American economy will see its gross domestic product (GDP) fall into negative territory this year.
