At the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Boards of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and IDB Invest (in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, March 6-10, 2024) Ilan Goldfajn, President of the IDB said that his institution had approximately 160 million dollars to allocate in donations to Haiti.

He explained that the grant aimed to minimize the economic and social crisis that Haiti is going through, which has increased with armed bands, which sow fear, death and tension in the population.

He indicated that these funds could be used in food distribution, health and education, expressing his solidarity with the Haitian people in these difficult times.

He said the IDB, along with other organizations, was evaluating how this sum would be managed. This afternoon, as part of the IDB annual meetings taking place in the country "We must think together about how to respond".

As part of the Annual Meeting of Governors of the BD Ilan Goldfajn mentioned the holding of a private session during which it will be discussed what the IDB does and can do for Haiti.
