Haiti - «Basket Fund» : Launch of the Joint Support Program for the PNH

Frantz Elbé Acting Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH) accompanied by members of the High Command, participated in the launching ceremony of the Steering Committee of the Joint Support Program for the PNH (PAPNH), held this week at Caribe Convention Center, in Pétion-ville.

This ceremony took place in the presence of Prime Minister a.i. Ariel Henry, Ms. Isabelle Salvador, Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Haiti and Head of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), Xavier Michon, Resident Representative of the Program of the United Nations for Development (UNDP-Haiti), as well as Representatives of other international partner institutions of the police institution.

The PAPNH, known as the "Basket Fund", is a pooling of contributions from several technical and financial partners on the basis of a consensus with the PNH to improve the cohesion of support for the police institution.

In addition, its objective is to support the PNH so that it can fully fulfill its role as a public service of maintaining order, by supporting it to address its priorities in terms of internal governance.

While welcoming the combined efforts of the various partners, Frantz Elbé declared that the implementation of this program will contribute to strengthening the operational and institutional capacity of the PNH.
