Haiti - USA : «Yonyon», the former leader of the «400 Mawozo» gang pleads guilty to 48 charges

Tuesday January 31, 2024, the former leader of the "400 Mawozo" gang, Germine Joly (30 years old) alias "Yonyon", transferred by Haitian justice to the United States in May 2022, while he was before the federal courts and that the government was preparing to close its trial for conspiracy to smuggle firearms, in violation of several American laws https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-41460-haiti-usa-the-trial-of-yonyon-will-begin-he-risks-20-years-in-prison.html his lawyer, Me Elita Amato, told Judge John D. Bates that his client wanted to change his plea and pleaded guilty to all 48 counts of accusations.

At the end of the trial, federal prosecutors highlighted Joly's role in the scourge of kidnappings in Haiti and in coordinating the kidnapping of the 16 American missionaries https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37126-haiti-justice-kidnapping-of-16-american-missionaries-a-haitian-before-american-justice.html and requested life imprisonment.

Let's recall that the weapons sold by Joly included AK47 and M1A assault rifles, as well as ammunition purchased from dealers in Miami and other areas of Florida with the help of "fake buyers", according to the deed filed in July 2022.

He will receive his sentence on May 15, 2024.

Note that before his transfer to the United States, Germine Joly was incarcerated and sentenced to life in prison in Haiti for kidnapping, murder, arms trafficking and other crimes, and that he continued to control his gang behind the prison walls thanks to the complicity of a cousin Abigaëlle Hailey GERMINAL (34 years old) alias "Fifi, Bel Boss" naturalized American in 2019 and arrested in November 2023 https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-41001-icihaiti-pnh-a-very-connected-cousin-of-yonyon-arrested.html
