Haiti - Culture : Donation of $50,000 from Azerbaijan to Jacmel

Azerbaijan and UNESCO signed an agreement on financial assistance to help the cultural sector of Haiti to recover of the post January 12, 2010, as part of the 36th Session of the General Conference of the organization that is held in Paris from October 25 to November 10.

Upon the initiative of First Lady of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva, of the UNESCO Good-Will Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva, Azerbaijan will assign $50,000 to the efforts to restore cultural facilities of the city of Jacmel.

The project is to start this December and last six months.

The agreement was signed by Hans d'Orville, the UNESCO Assistant Director General for Strategic Planning and Azerbaijan's permanent representative to UNESCO Eleonora Huseynova.

The signing ceremony was attended by the culture minister of Haiti, the Azerbaijani MP B. Aliyev, the secretary general of the national commission for UNESCO of Azerbaijan G. Afandiyeva, representatives from related UNESCO sections, representatives of permanent representations of Haiti and Azerbaijan and media workers.
