Haiti - Security : Strengthening surveillance at the Dominican border

Monday January 22, 2024, the Dominican military authorities reinforced service posts, particularly around the Dajabón market and the CODEVI industrial free zone, due to the demonstrations in Haiti.

"This measure is due to the fact that on the side of the Jde Ouanaminthe community, the Haitians have initiated a series of 'contacts' in different parts of this territory," indicate the military authorities.

Reinforcement in men and vehicles was provided by the Tenth Battalion of the Dominican Army in Dajabón.

Haitians say they can no longer tolerate the repression of the most powerful in their country, whom they blame for all their misfortunes.

In Ouanaminthe, schools, banks and public offices were closed.

There was little influx of Haitians at the border market due to the insecurity situation in Haiti, particularly on the roads which affect trade between the two Nations.
