Haiti - Politic : Arrest of former deputy Cholzer Chancy

Yesterday Monday, January 22, Cholzer Chancy, former deputy for Ennery and former president of the Chamber of Deputies, was arrested on the orders of the investigating magistrate Al Duniel Dimanche, responsible for the investigation in the context of the case of alleged misappropriation of public property at the National Equipment Center (CNE).

Following his hearing and considering the elements collected during the interrogation, judge Al Duniel Dimanche decided to place Cholzer Chancy under arrest, and is locked up at the Pétion-ville police station.

Let's recall that Cholzer Chancy, had been summoned in connection with the case of misappropriation of public property at the CNE; highlighted in a ULCC report relating to the misappropriation of CNE materials; and had already responded to a first summons from the investigating judge Al Duniel Dimanche Monday January 8, 2024. However, the former parliamentarian had affirmed that he had not been formally notified, but that he had decided and felt in obligation to respond to the judge's invitation.

In its latest report, the ULCC highlighted that there were 78 state-owned materials in the hands of former elected officials.
