Haiti - Social : Distribution of 6,000 giraumon soups

As part of the celebration of the 220th anniversary of Haiti's independence, the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) is perpetuating a tradition dear to the Haitian population: the sharing of giraumon soup. This famous soup, listed as a cultural heritage of humanityhttps://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-35500-haiti-culture-the-soup-joumou-on-the-list-of-intangible-cultural-heritage-of-humanity.html proudly called "the soup of independence" symbolizes freedom,

On Independence Day, the newly free people gather to taste this dish once "forbidden" to slaves. A revenge against the fallen masters.

On January 1st, it was with great pleasure that the FAES shared the warmth of this gesture with our most deprived citizens of the metropolitan region of Port-au-Prince by distributing a total of 6,000 giraumon soup.

The soup that FAES offers symbolizes much more than just comforting ingredients; she embodies the spirit of mutual aid that drives our Nation. By sharing this meal, we celebrate not only our independence, but also our commitment to a society where no one is left behind.

The FAES, through the Directorate for the Fight Against Poverty, also distributed 18,000 hot meals to vulnerable people in the metropolitan region of Port-au-Prince from December 30, 2023 to January 1st, 2024.
