700,000 disabled people need humanitarian assistance

In Haiti, there are 4.9 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. 14%, or 700,000 people, live with a disability. And the situation of insecurity and violence affects these people more strongly.

USAID : Fortified foods

In order to strengthen the staple foods available on the Haitian market, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID-Haiti) worked directly with private sector actors and the Haitian Government. USAID ensures that the population has access to foods enriched with important micronutrients such as wheat flour enriched with iron, folic acid, vitamin B1, B2, B3 and zinc; salt enriched with iodine and vegetable oil enriched with vitamin A.

Forced displacement response strategy

The Government, through the General Directorate of Civil Protection and with the support of the UN International Organization for Migration (IOM - Haiti), presented a national strategy for responding to forced displacement during a round table bringing together key stakeholders, including displaced people. IOM reiterated its commitment to providing support to the Government to support displaced populations in Haiti.
