Haiti - FLASH : Thomassique prohibits the purchase of products from the Dominican Rep.

In a press release dated October 15, 2023 bearing the signature of Deputy Mayors, Rosena LAPAIX and Marie-Loude K. CLERCIUS, the municipal administration of Thomassique, in conjunction with the Municipal Security Council, informs importers, transporters, merchants and the population in general, that it remains attached to the Government's decision to keep the Haitian border closed with the Dominican Republic, in reaction to the partial reopening of the border on the Dominican side...

This press release addressed to importers, transporters, merchants and the general population, the municipal administration of Thomassique (Central Department) announces theban on the entry of products coming from the neighboring Republic into the national territory via the commune...

"[...] Any transaction of products coming from the Dominican Republic will be considered as contraband, and the latter is an offense provided for and punished by the customs code in its articles 227 to 238" one read in the press release which underlines that any offender to this measure will be punished in accordance with the provisions of the law.
