Haiti - Security : Recruitment criteria for the 1,000 Kenyan police officers

The Kenyan Government has begun recruiting the 1,000 members of the mission it plans to send to Haiti to participate in a multinational intervention force in Haiti.

Among the recruits are officers assigned to special tasks who will be joined by specialized officers including 35 drivers, six sign language specialists, 12 priests and pastors as well as 8 mechanics.

All officers assigned to this mission must have more than five years of experience in the National Police Service (NPS), be between 20 and 40 years old and have no more than two convictions during their career.

Other requirements are that these men and women, must be mentally, physically and medically fit, have proven shooting skills, be proficient in English and have clear discipline and control.

These requirements will also apply to specialist officers who must be between 20 and 40 years old.
