Data calculated since the first confirmed case (October 3, 2022) according to data from the Department of Epidemiology, Laboratories and Research of the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP).

Total suspected cases: 61,055 since October 3, 2022 +22 (partial) in 24 hours, previous +292

Total new confirmed cases: 3,696* cases +10 in 24 hours, previous +74

Total hospitalized cases (suspected and confirmed): 54,102 since October 3, 2022 +23 hospitalizations in 24 hours, previous +284

Total deaths: 823 deaths ((575 institutional (+1) and 248** community (+0)) +0, previous +01

*By extrapolating the average rate of confirmed cases tested on the number of suspected cholera cases since the start of the epidemic, the number of confirmed cases should really be close to 23,000.

Definitions:

Suspected cases:

Anyone with acute watery, profuse diarrhea with or without vomiting and dehydration

Confirmed case:

Any suspected case with a positive culture for “Vibrio cholerae” or presenting an epidemiological link with a confirmed case of cholera

Hospitalized case:

Any suspected or confirmed case that spends at least 24 hours in a care centre

Institutional death:

Any suspected or confirmed case who dies in a treatment center.

Community death:

Any suspected case that dies outside of a caring institution.
