Monday, August 14 at the Court of Cassation, Prime Minister a.i. Ariel Henry, attended the funeral of former President Boniface Alexandre, to pay him a final tribute as a great servant of the State.

In his speech, Ariel Henry declared "[…] President Boniface Alexandre was the archetype of the 'Vir Bonus', a real good man who respects the law and enjoys a good reputation. He is of this caliber of man of a certain era, which unfortunately we find less and less in our society.

As President of the Republic, he has always shown wisdom and pragmatism in the search for solutions to ease political and social tensions, while facing, with courage and determination, the enormous challenges of the time.

During his mandate, President Alexandre, who is a model of rectitude, humility and empathy, worked to build a national consensus around the major challenges we were facing as a Nation. He devoted his time in politics to the promotion of peace and the consolidation of democratic institutions.

Today, we must remember the legacy he leaves behind: a legacy of courage, integrity, and faith in our common homeland. May the exemplary career of the grower of Ganthier, the lawyer, the professor of law, the President of the Court of Cassation that was Me Boniface Alexandre, constitute for each of us a permanent source [...]"
