Haiti - Insecurity : The Dominican army ready to protect its territory in case of international intervention in Haiti

President Luis Abinader said in an interview with the radio program "El gobierno de la mañana" broadcast specially from the border province of Montecristi, that the country's military forces have been reinforced and are ready to protect every square meter of the Dominican Republic, once the international intervention led by Kenya begins in the neighboring country of Haiti.

In this sense, Abinader said that the Dominican army was reinforced and equipped and was able to protect the national territory and the Dominicans "We have reinforced the armed forces [...] they are more equipped and prepared than in their best moments and ready when this international intervention occurs."

Abinader insisted that the Dominican Republic does not want to participate in the intervention led by Kenya, because the country shares a common border with Haiti and for historical reasons, but "he must know certain details of what this force will do, in order to take all measures to protect the border from the possible consequences of this intervention."

Likewise, he warned "if gang members try to enter Dominican territory it will be very bad for them," pointing out that they have been identified and are in a database.
