Haiti - FLASH : Insurance for the benefit of Taxi-Motorcycle drivers (OFATMA)
After its Insurance Program for people with reduced mobility https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-39997-haiti-news-zapping.html , Carl François the Director General of the Office of Occupational Accident, Sickness and Maternity Insurance (OFATMA) in the presence of Pierre Rodney Ricot, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and several Motorcycle Taxi associations launched on July 19, 2023, a Motorcycle Insurance Program (PAM) which aims to bring insurance coverage to Moto taxi drivers in Haiti.

In this first pilot experience, it is the department of the West that benefits from the program.

Carl François explained "Once the driver is enrolled, he will receive a card. The latter will give him access to all the services covered by this insurance [...] Apart from the driver, the insurance will also cover his dependents" specifying that this is a program that can evolve. "The services base can be improved", which guarantees that there will be a permanent relationship between the institution and the insured via customer service.

François added that the program will be supported by the National Ambulance Center (CAN) and the Central Direction of the Road Police. The latter will provide training for moto drivers.

Minister Ricot welcomes this new initiative of Ofatma aimed at insuring Taxi Moto drivers and encouraged those who were present to get more involved in association in order to be able to derive more profits from this program and other Government initiatives.

On the sidelines of the launch, several dozen moto drivers have registered for the PAM insurance program.
