Haiti - Crisis : Speech by Chancellor Généus to the OAS for an urgent intervention Video)

Thursday, June 22, 2023, Haitian Chancellor Jean Victor Généus in his speech at the plenary session of the 53rd regular session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), pleaded for the pursuit of realistic and concrete objectives. of the OAS in favor of the fight against armed gangs in Haiti. The Chancellor has defined the restoration of security as the priority of the hour to guarantee the right to free movement and facilitate the holding of elections.

He recalled that it is with this in mind that the Prime Minister, Henry, had renewed his request for robust international support for the national police in the fight for the immediate restoration of security at all points of the territory. He asked member states and permanent observers, who can, to urgently offer direct support to the Government of Haiti.

On the sidelines of the OAS General Assembly, Chancellor Généus met with the Brazilian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms. Maria Laura da Rocha, who expressed her country's unreserved support for the draft resolution on Haiti relating to the need immediate security assistance.

Voices including that of the USA were raised in favor of a more robust intervention by the OAS in favor of Haiti...
