Haiti - Economy : World Bank is impatient to work with Dr. Conille

Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Director General of the World Bank (WB) hopes that the ratification this week of the Prime Minister of Haiti, Dr. Garry Conille, will dispel the obstacles that have impeded the progress in the reconstruction of Haiti.

"We are impatient to work with the Prime Minister and its cabinet to implement the programs" that will allow a relaunch of its economy, declared Mulyani at a press conference on the occasion of the Americas Competitiveness Forum V (ACF V), in which more than 1,000 leaders from 34 countries of the Americas and the Caribbean have organized nearly 200 business meetings.

The Director General of the World Bank said that in the funds for the reconstruction of Haiti, there were about 500 million dollars available, but that "the effectiveness of financial and social programs, will depend of the Government capacity."
