Haiti - Politic : «Feeding Haitians, the priority of the Government» (Dixit Ariel Henry)

The Prime Minister, Dr Ariel Henry, participated in the closing of the three-day workshop organized by the National Coordination for Food Security (CNSA) around the theme : "Agenda of the workshop for the assessment and revision of the implementation of the roadmap for the transformation of food systems in Haiti".

Intervention by the Head of Government :

"[...] My presence alongside the Ministries of Agriculture and Planning and the Resident Coordinator at.i. of the United Nations [...] is part of my Government's determination to continue working to reduce food insecurity throughout the national territory.

The issue of food security, along with the security environment, is one of the major concerns for the Government and for the population that suffers from it. I wanted to come and participate in the closing of your work, because feeding our compatriots, giving them access to quality food, in sufficient quantity and at affordable prices for the most vulnerable, remains and remains an obligation.

Every time I hear the statistics on food insecurity, these figures give food for thought and should make us aware of our duty to define coherent public policies to address this problem. When nearly half of our population cannot eat enough, when we have so many compatriots who are chronically affected by such a situation, this cannot leave anyone indifferent.

Eating is a primary vital need for any individual. Our country has the potential and the capacity to feed its population. And yet hunger grips Haitians by the hundreds of thousands and by the millions.

We are aware of the challenges in terms of public policies. I hereby undertake to bring before the Council of Ministers the question of the implementation of the roadmap. The necessary measures will be taken so that government action for the 2023-2024 fiscal year aligns with the priorities expressed in this roadmap.

'Nou bezwen api, nou bezwen semans, nou bezwen angrè, pou nou kapab pwodui plis manje, plis mayi, plis pitimi, plis pwa, plis manyòk, plis kalalou. Fòk nou sispann achte sitwon, zorany si nan men lòt peyi. Nou ka pwodui manje sa yo.'

You can rely on the Government that I lead,

Let's all work together."
