Data calculated since the first confirmed case (October 3, 2022)

Total suspected cases: 46,338 cases +38 in 24 hours, previous +84 in 24 hours

Total hospitalized cases (suspected and confirmed): 40,541 cases +40 in 24 hours, the day before +56 in 24 hours

Total deaths: 808* deaths ((478 institutional (+0) and 235 community (+0)) +0, previous +7

*Not updated for 2 days (Very partial figures for several months)

Partial assessment of cholera in Haiti according to data from the Department of Epidemiology, Laboratories and Research of the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP).

Distribution of suspected cases, total since October 3:

Less than 1 year: 1,080 cases (+1)

1-4 years: 9,256 cases (+8)

5-9 years: 6,674 cases (+6)

10-14 years old: 3,325 cases (+3)

15-19 years old: 2,448 cases (+4)

20-29 years old: 5,959 cases (+2)

30-39 years old: 5,078 cases (+2)

40-49 years old: 3,785 cases (+4)

50-59 years old: 2,849 cases (+1)

60-69 years old: 2,017 cases (+5)

70-79 years old: 1,169 cases (+0)

80 years and over: 477 cases (+2)

Men: 54.28% men (-); Women 45.72 (+)

Positivity rate by age segment:

Number of tests carried out: 8,437 +19 in 24h, previous +71 in 24h

Positivity rate: 34.79%, previous 34.66%

It should be noted that the percentage of 34.66% of the rate of positive cases on the tests carried out is much lower than the graph published the same day by the Ministry, which indicates an average positivity rate greater than 70% for the epidemiological week # 21

Definitions:

Suspected cases:

Anyone with acute watery, profuse diarrhea with or without vomiting and dehydration

Confirmed case:

Any suspected case with a positive culture for “Vibrio cholerae” or presenting an epidemiological link with a confirmed case of cholera

Hospitalized case:

Any suspected or confirmed case that spends at least 24 hours in a care centre

Institutional death:Any suspected or confirmed case who dies in a treatment center.

Community death:

Any suspected case that dies outside of a caring institution.
