Haiti - Social : End of the Strike at EDH, partial return of electricity after 25 days of blackout

After 25 days of blackout, striking employees of the Péligre hydroelectric power station ended their strike to demand the payment of five months of unpaid salary arrears

According to Pierre Michel Félix, Vice-President of the Federation of Electricity of Haiti Workers' Unions (EDH), the employees reached an agreement with the Minister of Public Works, who undertook to make the immediate payment of 2 months of salary arrears and the remaining 3 months by the end of May 2023.

Following this agreement, the Central of Péligre has started to operate again and since Friday afternoon there has been a gradual restoration of the distribution of electricity in certain neighborhoods of the metropolitan area, among others in Delmas and Port-au-Prince...

For the families who have seen back the electric light it is a huge relief after 25 days of blackout...
