Monday morning in Canapé-Vert, following an alert from the Intelligence and Operations Center on the presence of armed men in the area, the police began to check vehicles and intercepted a minibus coming from Pétion-ville in which were 14 suspicious and armed individuals who were arrested. Dessain Amoncite the bus driver and Jameson Fleurancieux the controller were also arrested.

During the search of the vehicle the police found and seized weapons, ammunition, magazines for assault rifles, telephones and various illicit materials.

The arrested individuals were taken to the Canapé-Vert sub-police station.

Informed of the situation, an angry mob then went to the sub-police station and took these individuals from the hands of the police before lynching them in front of the sub-police station.

Several videos circulating on social media show people rushing to pour gasoline on the living or dead men shouting "Set them on fire", "we will kill them one by one" in which police officers one seen helplessly watching the stage in front of a furious crowd. At least 13 of the 14 individuals were stoned and burned...

Commissioner Garry Desrosiers, Spokesperson for the National Police confirmed the facts during a press briefing "[...] Given the anger of members of the population, the police could not bring these individuals to justice. They were lynched and then burned," adding that he was waiting for a full report on what happened.
