iciHaiti - Environment : Torrential rains, landslide «Dos Bois Rouge»
Following the recent torrential rains that fell this week on the Center department, a landslide occurred in "Dos Bois Rouge", a locality in the border town of Lascahobas.

Several residents lost their crops and livestock, while others were forced to flee their homes badly damaged by the mudslide. No loss of human life has been reported so far.

With the approach of the rainy season and hurricanes, the populations of exposed areas must be more vigilant in the face of the risks of flooding and landslides.

It should be noted that natural hazards are one of the major factors in the movement of border populations towards the Dominican Republic. Losses recorded during natural disasters increase the level of precariousness within communities and increase migratory flows
