B>A police officer killed

Sunday, April 16, 2023, individuals shot and killed police officer Samuel François (27th promotion) in the Duval area (Croix-des-Bouquets), as he was going to work, confirmed the National Union of Haitian Police Officers (SYNAPOHA). According to the testimony of residents, it would be men known to the "400 mawozo" gang who murdered the policeman.

Gonaïves : the Director of the DGI kidnapped

On Monday April 17, 2023, armed individuals kidnapped from La Croix Périsse (commune of Estère, Artibonite Dept.), Fleurinord P. Antoine, Director of the the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) in Gonaïves. The "Kokorat San Ras" gang could be behind this kidnapping.

Yvents Stephen Dorzilmas Marcel, (27), a repeat offender known to the police, was arrested by the police in the town of Hinche. The police occupy the territory of "Ti Makak"

For more than a week, police officers from elite units of the National Police of Haiti have settled in the territory of the gang leader, Joselito Petit Homme alias "Ti Makak" who allegedly fled the area. More than a dozen bandits were fatally injured during various clashes and more than a dozen hostages released, indicated Lionel Lazare, coordinator of the National Union of Haitian Police Officers (SYNAPOHA).

CARICOM continues to assess how to respond

At a post-cabinet press briefing at the Jamaican Prime Minister's office, Foreign Minister Kamina Johnson-Smith said the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) was still assessing how best to intervene to help restore stability in Haiti.
