Haiti - Energy crisis : The municipal commission of Cap-Haitien, requests explanations from the EDH

For some time, Electricité d'Haïti (EDH) has only been supplying a few hours of electricity to the inhabitants of Cap-Haitien, the country's second largest city. Insufficient production, shortage of fuel, equipment broken down, not repaired or not installed, there are many reasons. With the lack of electricity in the city, the question of insecurity returns to the center of the debates between the various authorities and within the population...

In order to find out what is wrong with the public supply of electrical energy in Cap-Haitien, the Deputy Mayor, Patrick Almonor carried out on Monday, April 17, 2023, a technical assessment tour with EDH officials with a view to find a lasting solution to this crisis.

Aware of the importance of electricity as one of the essential elements for the economic and social transformation of the population of Capoise, the Municipal Commission recommends to the General Directorate of EDH and to the Ministry of Public Works, to ensure the permanent delivery of fuel to the Departmental Directorate of EDH, in order to provide electricity to the population; to train technicians and repair electrical generators that have not been in working order for too long...
