Haiti - Culture : Buyu Ambroise and the Blues in Red Band, in concert in Haiti

The Office of Public Affairs of the Embassy of the United States in Haiti, invites the general public to a concert bridging Haitian and American tunes with Haitian-American saxophoniste Buyu Ambroise & the Blues in Red Band. This performance will be free of charge and will take place on Saturday, October 1st, in the rear of the Palais Sans Souci in Milot (North of Haiti) from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

This concert is organized to promote jazz music in Haiti, increase mutual understanding between Haitian and American cultures, and encourage tourism to Haitian historical monuments. A music workshop will also take place at the Alliance Française this Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. This project is implemented in collaboration with the Haiti Jazz Foundation.

Buyu Ambroise was born in Port-au-Prince and moved to the United States at a young age. Today he is a world-renowned saxophonist with over twenty years of experience. He began playing the saxophone while attending high school in Brooklyn, New York. His passion for the jazz led him to study with many great musicians including Frank Foster, Jimmy Owens, and John Lewis.
