Haiti - Education : The President Martelly announces free school transport 29/09/2011 12:17:42
his decision was announced as a prelude to the back to school [scheduled for October 3], during a meeting at the National Palace, between the Head of State, the members of his cabinet, officials of DIGNITY, and also of Senator Youri Latortue and the former Mayor of Port-au-Prince, Emmanuel Charlemagne. "Another victory for the people" welcomed the President Martelly. The Head of State stressed that the issue of school transport has always been a major problem for parents and students. For this, he believes important that the single company responsible for the transportation of schoolchildren can be strengthened to provide more efficient service. For their part, officials of the company DIGNITY promise to become more involved in the improvement of the transportation services of Haitian schoolchildren and of urban traffic in general. The Divisional Commissioner Will Dimanche, Director of Traffic and the Traffic Police, ha for his part, announced concrete measures to unclog the public roads during this historic school year, where more than 700,000 students will benefit from free education programs.
