Haiti - Insecurity : Carrefour-Feuilles Substation looted and vandalized

In a note dated March 7, the Electricity of Haiti (EDH) informs its subscribers that on the evening of Saturday March 3rd, 2023, heavily armed individuals invaded the Carrefour-Feuilles Substation, on the pretext that their zones were not was not supplied with electricity.

The service technicians as well as the security guards were threatened and had to leave the premises. The building was looted and the operating equipment vandalized by these individuals.

As a result, this Substation has become inoperative and a good part of the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince is no longer supplied.

The EDH apologizes to the subscribers of Carrefour-Feuilles, Savanne Pistache, Decayette, Route des Dalles, Rue Fouchard, Fort Mercredi, Caridad, Rue Mgr Guilloux, Avenue Christophe, Chemin des Dalles, Rue Capois, HUEH, the Champs de Mars and the surrounding areas, Place Jérémie, Avenue Magloire Ambroise, Avenue N, Turgeau, Pacot, Debussy, for its inability to serve them.

Such actions, far from satisfying the electricity needs of local residents, only make EDH's difficulties more complicated because the operating equipment of the substations is expensive and difficult to repair or replace.

EDH assures subscribers of its willingness to resume service as soon as possible.
