Haiti - Crisis : The Caricom delegation met the PM

On Monday, February 27, 2023, Acting Prime Minister Ariel Henry met at his official residence with members of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) delegation led by his Jamaican counterpart, Andrew Holness.

Other Jamaican members of the delegation include the Jamaican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator the Honorable Kamina Johnson Smith and Ambassador Rocky Meade, representatives from the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago as well as the Secretariat of CARICOM.

During his fruitful meeting with the Caricom delegation, the Prime Minister, Henry, stressed the urgency of concrete actions being taken to restore a secure environment. This is the primary concern of the government and an essential condition for the organization of elections.

"The Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness, assured his Haitian counterpart of the support of Caricom to the Haitian people and of its willingness to continue to work for a return to democracy," informed the Primature at the end of this meeting.

Monday after this meeting with Prime Minister Henry, the delegation met separately with leaders of several political parties and civil society organizations around the Haitian crisis.
